UFC Interim Middleweight Champ Israel Adesanya Responds to Jon Jones Call Out

A fight is brewing between two of the UFC’s best!

April 13 saw the UFC put on two of the greatest fights in MMA history as Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway, Kelvin Gastellum, and Israel Adesanya left a piece of themselves in the world famous octagon. Dustin Poirier took a hard earned victory over Max Holloway, while Israel Adesanya battled Kelvin Gastelum in a middleweight title fight for the ages.

Speaking of the newly crowned UFC Interim Middleweight Champion, Israel Adesanya has been called out lately by another of the sport’s greats. Jon Jones has almost completely cleared out the UFC Light Heavyweight division. For many that feat has meant Jon Jones would most likely make his move up to Heavyweight to further cement his legacy at a higher weight class. However, recent comments by the Light Heavyweight champ has sparked speculation that he’s looking to do battle with Israel Adesanya.

In recent comments on social media, Jon Jones made it clear that he wouldn’t mind facing off against Adesanya in a Light Heavyweight contest. Per Sports Joe:

If you think you killed 44 yr old Anderson, you didn’t. I’m not really sure what fight you’ve been watching. You got past the legendary GOAT, now come fuck with the King of the jungle. I’ll make you call me daddy by the third.

Jon Jones comments are in response to an Israel Adesanya interview. The UFC Interim Middleweight Champ stated per MMA Fighting:

“He was right and when I heard about it – I think maybe two days after he said it – I was like, ‘Oh, really?’” Adesanya told TMZ Sports. “I had receipts. I had some screenshots from prior and then I posted them to show that I was already on that same plane. So yeah, great minds think alike.

“It does tickle my loins,” Adesanya said. “It does make me feel some type of way. I like challenges. [Jones] is the GOAT right now, right? I’ve already killed one GOAT, I’m hunting the next.”

Israel Adesanya once again addressed the Jon Jones on Monday, April 15 with the following Tweet:

If things keep going like this, there’s no question that a battle between Israel Adesanya and Jon Jones is on the horizon.
