UFC OPEN WORKOUTS: HENDRICKS LOOKING LEAN, THOMPSON LOOKING MEAN

hendrick thompson open workout headerSaturday can’t come fast enough.

With only one more day until UFC Fight Night 82 the fighters are prepped and ready to take action. Main event fighters Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson have done all the preparation and now it’s time for the two to meet in a five round bout that could determined the next welterweight number one contender. Leading into the event many, including myself, were curious as to Johny Hendricks and his weight cutting issues. God knows cutting weight isn’t easy especially with all the good food we have these days, but the fact that Hendricks was unable to make weight in his last intended bout, a match up with fellow welterweight contender Tyron Woodley, was a pretty alarming and eye opening turn of events. The Texan had to go back to the drawing board, truly assess all the problems and issues he was facing going into the last match and try to find a way to reinvent himself. If the video from the open workouts are any indication, it seems that Hendricks may have a handle on his weight. Take a look at the video below of Hendricks hitting the pads in front of a crowd of avid fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EuqW11znOM While Hendricks’ physique was certainly a sticking point, another major question that needs to be answered is just how good is Stephen Thompson? His thrashing of opponents like Jake Ellenberger, Robert Whittaker, and Patrick Cote were nothing short of impressive. He has proven himself to be an accurate and dangerous striker with pinpoint precision and belief in his striking abilities that he’ll be the one to come out on top. But Thompson has never faced a man the caliber of Hendricks and this fight will be the true indicator of just how far the former kickboxer can go. Check out his open workout highlights to see exactly what Thompson will be bringing to the table, fun, diverse striking and plenty of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2tv5TH0koE Who do you think will be victorious come Saturday night?
