Dexter Jackson clears some things up about trash talk vs honest opinions.

We live in the internet age. This means that everyone who has an opinion can build a platform to spread that opinion. It’s an amazing thing… but it can also be overwhelming. Uninformed opinions can influence people to believe in non-truths. And even worse, hateful opinions can be spread to put down individuals or entire groups of people.

There’s also another thing that it breeds – trash talk. Love it or hate it – trash talk has become more common in sports due to any athlete being able to speak their mind without the need of media companies. This has affected bodybuilding just like any other sport – but has our reaction to it gone too far?

The internet also makes fandom more intense than ever before. Fans of an athlete can ban together on the internet to support or destroy someone (think of order 66). That’s why Dexter Jackson posted this video, compiled by Fazi Fitness here, breaking down the difference between trash talk and being honest about your opinions.

Not every opinion needs to be taken as an attack if it’s an opinion you don’t agree with. Sometimes opinions can be just that – an opinion that helps us see the world from eyes other than our own. Maybe we can even change our mind based on someone else’s well informed opinion.

That’s why Dexter Jackson felt the need to explain himself and send a message to those obsessing over every single bodybuilder opinion out there on the web. The core of the message – everyone just needs to calm down. Check it out above!
