The champion may once again prove to be too much for Michael Bisping.’
Yes, Michael Bisping is stepping in for the injured Chris Weidman to face off with Luke Rockhold in a much anticipated rematch of their November 2014 match up. Except that not many people are expecting much from this match up. Luke Rockhold looked so impressive in his win over the former champ Weidman that people are starting to buy into the hype, expecting the current champion to decimate Bisping in the rematch. Rockhold has opened as a 10-1 favorite in this match and though that may be a bit excessive it shows just how much experts believe that Luke will once again leave the octagon as the UFC Middleweight champion. It’s not that Bisping doesn’t have the skills to defeat Rockhold, it’s just that when you compare the two style-wise, the champion is just a bit too much to deal with for the Ultimate Fighter Season 3 winner. Luke is the superior athlete with a hefty size and strength advantage. When you couple that with the fact that Bisping was overwhelmed by Rockhold on the feet in their last bout leading to a submission finish for Luke. The interesting thing to point out however is just how good Bisping looked in that outing before the submission. Bisping was moving and dancing as he usually does and landed a fair number of strikes on Rockhold. The biggest issue that Bisping has to face in this match up is the fact that Rockhold has gotten even more efficient with his striking and overall game since they last met. Bisping has improved as well, but not enough to warrant any kind of big rally cry. If Bisping wants to win this fight then he’ll have to be on his bicycle much of the fight, never allowing Rockhold to get a bead on his movements. Everything is purely just speculation as to what Bisping’s approach will be for this fight. We’ll have to just wait and see.
