Who Won The Main Event at UFC 242: Khabib Nurmagomedov or Dustin Poirier?

Who won at UFC 242?

UFC 242: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Dustin Poirier took place in Abu Dhabi earlier today which saw the UFC Lightweight Champion defend his title against a very game Dustin Poirier.

After two rounds of dominance in the wrestling realm, Khabib Nurmagomedov put the finishing touches on a near perfect performance with a rear naked choke finish in the third round.

Dustin Poirier never really got himself into the fight but put on a fine effort to take away Khabib’s undefeated status. Khabib Nurmagomedov secured a takedown in the first frame and from there did what he does best, dominate from top position. Poirier was unable to break his base and Khabib Nurmagomedov used hip pressure, ground and pound, and positional advantages to stay on top.

From clinch work, to body locks, to single legs, to trips, Khabib Nurmagomedov proved once again why his ground game is so feared in the UFC Lightweight division. With another dominant victory, it’s clear that the only remaining fights for Khabib is either to finally lock horns with long time rival Tony Ferguson or have a legacy fight against Georges St-Pierre.

For now find out more about how Khabib Nurmagomedov was able to get the job done against Dustin Poirier in this pre-fight breakdown below.
