WILL THE UFC PAY BIG BUCKS FOR A NICK DIAZ AND TYRON WOODLEY MATCH UP?

nick diaz tyron woodley money fight headerThe squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Tyron Woodley just recently won his UFC Welterweight title and has already gone on the charge to get the most lucrative fight possible. After winning his title and being challenged by Stephen Thompson, Woodley took the Conor McGregor approach and stated exactly who he wanted to face off with next. Nick Diaz is one of the most polarizing figures in MMA today. After being suspended for testing positive for marijuana in his bout with Anderson Silva, Diaz’s star has risen as he essentially became a martyr. With his suspension over and done with, you can bet tickets will be selling like crazy once Diaz decides to put on the four ounce gloves once again. Some people have issues with Woodley for essentially ducking Stephen Thompson, myself included. But after careful consideration it is a bit refreshing to see that a champion isn’t afraid to speak their mind and ask for the match up that’s going to line their pockets. After all, many people were fine with Conor McGregor challenging Rafael dos Anjos, so what’s the issue with Woodley challenging Diaz? The difference is ticket sales. Conor McGregor can sell a pay-per-view by himself. Tyron Woodley is unlikely to the same thing. As such, it’s hard to imagine that the UFC will bend to Woodley’s whims and allow Nick Diaz to fight the new Welterweight champion. Love him or hate him, McGregor is correct when it comes to numbers. Even Dan Henderson and Micahel Bisping are going to fight simply because the two men sell a bunch of tickets. If you don’t have the numbers to carry a pay-per-view then it’s unlikely that the UFC will be granting the wishes of anyone who can’t move the needle. So should the UFC match up Woodley and Diaz? Well if the video below is any indication it could be on the horizon. All that’s needed is the willing participation of the top brass. And of course more videos of Nick Diaz like the one below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-pDV1KlWzg Do you think Tyron Woodley should fight Nick Diaz?
