THIS 14 YEAR OLD CAN ALREADY LIFT TWICE HIS OWN WEIGHT

Generation Iron 14 Year Old Lifts Twice His Weight

True strength at an early age.

Jake Schellenschlager of Glen Burnie, Maryland is a prime example of strength, dedication, and passion for improving one’s body. You already read it in the title but we’ll say it again. At 5 ft, 3 in and 119 lbs- Jake can lift well over his own body weight. How much exactly do you ask? He can now deadlift 300 pounds.

Originally reported by The Washington Post, this is truly a record breaking kid. In June, he broke the world record for squatting in his age group at the Powerlifting Bench Press Championships in Pennsylvania and plans to continue to grow and break records moving forward.

“He doesn’t feel he can be defeated,” his trainer Sarni (Yes, he has a trainer already) told the Post. “It is that inner strength that tells him, ‘I can do this.’ Usually, you only get that in older, more mature people.”

The best part? His father doesn’t give a damn about the old scientific debate: ‘does heavy lifting negatively effect a young person’s health?’ Chris Schellenschlage (Jake’s father) said he is aware of the possible risks to his son’s health but isn’t worried. He knows that Sarni is always supervising Jake and trusts that all will be well.

Chris has been a huge supporter and inspiration for his son. Jake started training at the age of 12 when he saw his father lighting weights in the garage. He then decided he wanted to be the strongest kid in the world and started joining his father in the gym.

So if you’re ever having an off day or feel like you just aren’t good enough to be the strongest or the best – just remember Jake Schellengschlager deadlifting over double his weight and say to yourself: “What’s your excuse?”
