Pavlo Kordiyaka was crowned champion of the 2023 Europe’s Strongest Man!
The 2023 Europe’s Strongest Man competition took place on Saturday in Leeds, England. There was a total of five events to test competitors to see who would be crowned champion. In the end, it was Pavlo Kordiyaka who took home the title.
Kordiyaka was able to trump the competition, which included previous champion Oleksii Novikov. Kordiyaka was victorious in three out of the five events over the course of the day.
Novikov took home the silver medal whole Aivars Smaukstelis finished in third place. Below, check out the full breakdown of the competition.

Event One: Log Ladder
The Log Ladder began the competition. Athletes were to lift logs that got progressively heavier from 120 to 180 kg. There were a total of five logs and competitors were timed in how quick they could complete all of them. Kordiyaka began his run to the title by being the only competitor to lift all five logs.

Event Two: Load & Push
The next event required competitors to load an anvil, sandbag, ad tire into a cart and push it for a distance. This was another timed event to see who could complete the course in the quickest time. Kordiyaka took home his second win of the competition by besting Oleksii Novikov by nearly two seconds.

Event Three: Deadlift
Deadlift was next on the list for the Strongmen. There was a total of 350kg loaded up on the bar and competitors had one minute to complete as many reps as possible. Novikov and Adam Bishop tied at the top of the leaderboard with nine reps, which was two more than any other competitor.

Event Four: Conan’s Wheel
Conan’s Wheel is an event that requires athletes to lift a wooden beam that is connected to a wheel and carry it for a distance. This was measured by the degree which the structure was moved. Kordiyaka picked up his third win of the event while Novikov finished in the top two once again.

Atlas Stones is one of the staples in Strongman competitions. Athletes had 60 seconds to lift five stones that increased in weight from 100 to 180 kg. Kordiyaka finished all five stones but was bested in time by Aivars Smaukstelis.
