2024 Wales Strongest Man: Which Strongman Won By One Point?

Who won at the 2024 Wales Strongest Man?

The 2024 Wales Strongest Man competition crowned its champion on July 21, 2024, in Cardiff, Wales. The competition saw fourteen strongman athletes compete in five different events to determine the champion. The competition was closely contested between the fourteen athletes but it would be one who narrowly beat out the others to become the strongest man in Wales.

When it was all said and done it would be Jacob Brooke who would stand atop the podium. Brooke beat out second-place winner Matt Dimond by a single point. Brooke scored 53 to Dimond’s 52 points. Third place would be shared by Mark Jeanes and Jamie Nelson who had an identical score of 51 points. Below is a full list of results for the competition.

2024 Wales Strongest Man Event Results

Below are the results of each of the five contested events in Cardiff.

Husafell Sack Carry

Each strongman was tasked with carrying a 125-kilogram sack shaped like the Husafell Stone three lengths of a 30-meter course for the fastest possible time within a 75-second time limit.

1. William Jones – 36.64 seconds

2. Jamie Nelson – 39.05 seconds

3. Llyr Hughes — 40.44 seconds

4. Mark Jeanes — 42.83 seconds

5. Jacob Brooke – 47.07 seconds

6. Matt Dimond – 52.17 seconds

7. Joe Roberts – 56.49 seconds

8. David Ramplee — 64.02 seconds

9. Luke Sperduti – 75 seconds

10. Aaron Moon — 78.76 meters

11. Luke Weaver — 77.44 meters

12. Tom Wellington – 72.5 meters

13. Julian Grey – 65.61 meters

14. James Francis – 56.4 meters

Press Medley

Each strongman had to lock out six overhead presses for the fastest time within a 75-second time limit.

1. Matt Dimond – Four in 45.77 seconds

2. Jacob Brooke – Four in 59.85 seconds

3. Jamie Nelson – Four in 61.63 seconds

4. David Ramplee — Four in 63.08 seconds

5. William Jones – Two in 20.7 seconds

6. Joe Roberts – Two in 23.65 seconds

7. Mark Jeanes – Two in 24.83 seconds

8. Luke Sperduti – Two in 25.32 seconds

9. Llyr Hughes – Two in 40.7 seconds

10. Tom Wellington – One in 38.87 seconds

11. James Francis — One in 47.03 seconds

12. Aaron Moon – One in 14.58 seconds

Car Deadlift Hold

Each strongman athlete did a static deadlift hold of a 300-kilogram car for time.

1. Jacob Brooke – 70.71 seconds

2. Llyr Hughes – 68.1 seconds

3. Joe Roberts — 60.07 seconds

4. Julian Grey – 56.1 seconds

5. Matt Dimond – 47.07 seconds

6. James Francis — 41.42 seconds

7. Jamie Nelson — 39.86 seconds

8. Luke Weaver – 39.22 seconds

9. David Ramplee — 38.03 seconds

10. Mark Jeanes – 37.89 seconds

11. Tom Wellington – 35.96 seconds

12. Luke Sperduti — 34.05 seconds

13. Aaron Moon 33.9 seconds

14. William Jones — 32.71 seconds

Bag Toss

Each strongman was tasked with tossing five bags weighing 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28 kilograms over a four-meter bar for the fastest time within a 75-second time limit.

1. Luke Sperduti — Five in 17.34 seconds

2. Mark Jeanes – Five in 17.91 seconds

3. David Ramplee – Five in 18.56 seconds

4. Matt Dimond – Five in 20.98 seconds

5. William Jones – Five in 23.82 seconds

6. Jacob Brooke – Five in 25.85 seconds

7. Luke Weaver – Five in 30.78 seconds

8. Jamie Nelson – Five in 37.6 seconds

9. Joe Roberts – Four in 24.69 seconds

10. Julian Grey – Four in 25.9 seconds

11. Tom Wellington — Four in 33.51 seconds

12. James Francis — Three in 21.22 seconds

13. Llyr Hughes – Three in 31.83 seconds

Stones of Strength

Competitors were tasked with setting a series of five stones weighing 100, 115, 130, 145, and 160 kilograms onto a pedestal standing 1.37 meters within the 75-second time cap.

4. Jamie Nelson – Five in 36.3 seconds
