Algerian Athletes Show Up In Force For IFBB Diamond Cup

Algerian athletes showed their avid love of bodybuilding.

Algerian athletes showed up in droves to compete at The “IFBB Algeria Diamond Cup” of Men’s Physique, Classic, and Open Bodybuilding, at the Meridian Hotel in Oran. The competition, which closed on Saturday, saw Algerian bodybuilders win 8 out of 9 divisions. Out of 91 athletes from 12 countries, 70 were Algerian.


At the beginning of the weekend, Algerian Minister of Youth and Sports, El Hadi Ould Ali, introduced the event to a crowd of enthusiasts who turned up to view the athletes.

According to HuffPostMagreb, head of the the Algerian federation of discipline, Moussa Messaouer, said he was very satisfied with the performance of Algerian athletes who won their divisions.

An obvious goal of the contest was to promote the a high number of Algerian athletes to professional status, and as a the competitionsaw through 13 professionals including 4 who got their cards last year at the world championship in Spain.

Director of National Teams, in Algeria, Sid Ahmed Messaouer, was also very pleased with the event.

He commented:

“We achieved our goal in this event. This is the result of a long-term work, knowing that the athletes winners today, are mostly from the selection B. These results encourage us to continue on the same line of conduct, in view of do even better in the future.”

Chams Eddine El Bey, winner of the Open Bodybuilding event said he very happy to have achieved his dream of becoming a professional Bodybuilder, while his teammate Belarbi Kada, winner of Men’s Physique, shed tears when he was announced as the winner, and said he did not expect such a dominant victory.


Events like these will continue to rise in prominence and popularity as bodybuilding spreads and intensifies across the globe.
