Anthony Joshua’s Nutritionist Breaks Down His Diet

Anthony Joshua is in supreme condition.

Age 28, at 6’6″ and 249 pounds, boxing Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is a physical force. This Saturday, against Joseph Parker, the WBA, IBF, and IBO Heavyweight titles will be on the line. Daily Star got information from his nutritionist Mark Ellison on how Joshua eats leading up to a title fight.

Anthony usually eats a breakfast of five eggs with two slices of whole wheat bread, fruit, and yogurt with porridge. Out of camp he will enjoy smoked salmon bagels with a “load of veg like spinach, peppers and onions.”

Occasionally he will drink coffee, but recently he has been substituting it with an electrolyte drink.

Lunch is also a clean meal: usually some clean mean with sweet potato and lots of vegetables. If he works out he’ll have “recovery shake with protein and carbohydrates.” Out of competition he loves pork cutlets with potatoes and green beans. Then after a recovery session and before his evening workout he’ll have something like a sandwich, fresh fruit, energy gels and an energy drink containing caffeine.

For dinner, Joshua mainly prefers red meat and some complex carb, like pasta or rice, obviously with vegetables for fiber. If he needs to be up early, he can substitute fish which is easier to digest.

As far as sweets, Joshua lets himself indulge in some favorites. Like mousse or yogurt with honey and meringues.

The millionaire athlete is also lucky enough to have a nutritionist who can make him custom protein bars loaded with nuts and seeds. These usually contain sweet fruits like dried dates or figs.

It’s certainly an impressive diet, but hardly shocking considering Joshua’s size and the aerobic requirements of boxing training.
