Arnold Schwarzenegger Gives Speech at Franco Columbu Memorial Service

Celebrating the life of a legend.

The Golden Era of bodybuilding produced some of the true legends of the sport. From Sergio Oliva to Frank Zane, Lou Ferrigno to Serge Nubret, there were countless legendary bodybuilders who personified what it meant to be a bodybuilding champion.

Of course chief among those list of legends is seven-time Olympia champion and arguably the greatest bodybuilder of all-time Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Arnold Schwarzenegger used not only his talent on the posing stage, but his verbal and psychological edge to turn the game on it’s head. But Schwarzenegger wouldn’t be the legend that he is today without the help of good friends and fellow bodybuilders to push him to new heights.

One of those bodybuilders was Franco Columbu.

A former Olympia champion in his own right, Franco Columbu was the main training partner and best friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The two legends pushed each other to become champions and did so with light hearts and extreme intensity in the weight room.

With the passing of Franco Columbu this past August still fresh on everyone’s minds, Arnold Schwarzenegger and host of the two-time Olympia champion’s friends and family paid tribute to the fallen legend. Below are videos and pictures of the memorial ceremony.

Franco Columbu was a true legend of bodybuilding and will be missed.
