If you are not a fan of vegetables, one serving per day might be all you need to reduce the risk of multiple cancers.
According to research, a higher intake of vegetables was linked to lower cancer risks in 226 studies of nearly six million people.
“Do we want you to eat more than one serving of vegetables daily? Of course. But that’s not the point. Too often, people make their goals unnecessarily difficult instead of starting with a change that can make a meaningful difference.”
The research studied different groups that took in vegetables multiple times per day. The first was one serving while others varied between 3-5 and 4-7 servings.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Shares Which Cancer Might Be Impacted By Vegetable Intake
Cruciferous vegetables are closely linked to reducing the risk of cancer. These include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale, among many others. All types of cancer will not be impacted but Arnold shared what will be fought.
“Vegetables appear to do the most to help fight gastrointestinal cancers, such as colorectal and stomach cancer, but the protective effects extended to lung and breast cancer as well.”
If you do not eat vegetables, Arnold urges you to begin somewhere, even if it is just multiple servings per week. Cruciferous vegetables will help detoxify carcinogens, along with other benefits as well.
“Cancer-fighting nutrients appear to be most closely tied to cruciferous vegetables. These vegetables contain potent compounds like sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol, which have been shown to help detoxify carcinogens, protect your cells against DNA damage, fight inflammation, and offer some antiviral and antibacterial benefits.”
