JOURNEY FOR MORE MUSCLE: NIGHTLINE HIGHLIGHTS POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES OF BIGOREXIA

bigorexia good and bad headerCould their be a hidden positive to bigorexia?

We’ve all been there. Beginners wishing to build an impressive physique that will turn heads and make others take heed and appreciate. Whether you were once scrawny and weak or had a few too many pounds packed onto your frame, wanted to be a better version of yourself is always a bodybuilder’s first step to bringing about that change. Building what one believes is the perfect body is always going to be a subjective topic. While many may believe a person has reached a remarkable level of musculature, the individual looking to bring about the change may see things entirely differently. When building muscle becomes an obsession it could easily transform from passion to body dysmorphia or bigorexia.

Many bodybuilders are afflicted with bigorexia. It’s a feeling of inadequacy, as if you could never quite get to the level that you strive for. Rather than rationalize the situation, telling yourself that you may have the genetics to get to the level of a Phil Heath, many stay on the path of muscle building hoping to one day reach their goal. But when attaining that physique could mean the destruction of relationships in your life or even putting your health and well being at risk, a bodybuilder has to take a step back and see what kind of harm they’re doing to themselves.

There can be positives to this as well as long as the bodybuilder is able to attain a realistic outlook on how far they can push their body. For the hardgainer, being obsessed can be the difference between having an athletic build or looking like a twig. Bigorexia can certainly be a terrible thing, while it can also change people’s lives for the better. Just check out this report below about two bodybuilders, one of them being David Laid. Both have their own goals and roads to travel down, each of them with their own struggles. Check out the video below for the in depth story.
