Blessing Awodibu breaks down the two bodybuilders that inspired his pro bodybuilding career.

Blessing Awodibu is a name that was around in bodybuilding for many years now. But it wasn’t until 2020 that he started becoming a force to be reckoned with in competitive bodybuilding. Now in 2021, he is aiming for an impressive physique debut at the New York Pro 2021. But who were the bodybuilders that most inspired him to become a pro bodybuilder? In our latest GI Exclusive, Blessing Awodibu names the two bodybuilders that inspired his journey into pro bodybuilding.

Blessing Awodibu isn’t a man who grew up watching and reading about bodybuilding. He wasn’t even aware that the sport of bodybuilding existed. Due to this, when he started finding his passion in building muscle – he knew no one within the bodybuilding industry. Unlike many legendary pro bodybuilders, Blessing does not have an old magazine cover to point towards as his initial inspiration.

So where did he find inspiration? And who did he eventually see as the ideal physique to inspire his journey towards going pro? That inspiration didn’t come until he already started entering the world of competitive bodybuilding. Toney Freeman was the first pro that completely awe struck Blessing.

Blessing Awodibu was at the Arnold Classic at the same time Toney Freeman was competing. He saw his massive size and physique and was shocked. He had no idea a person could even attain such mass and muscle. Not only that, but it was a conversation with Toney Freeman that inspired Blessing to continue forward and plan a second attempt at competing himself. The rest was history.

Later on his the early stages of his career, Blessing Awodibu also had the opportunity to finally see Kai Greene in person. This was another bodybuilder that completely inspired him the moment he saw his physique up close. Blessing explains that Kai Greene was always a presence around bodybuilding. He knew his name. He know his talent. But to see it in person changed the game entirely.

Not only that, but Kai Greene’s personality was a big inspiration for Blessing as well. He thought, and still thinks, that bodybuilders overall are too serious. Kai Greene was willing to be funny, philosophical, kind, and even openly weird. He owned it. And Blessing took a page from Kai’s book when it came to that kind of personality and presentation.

Fast forward to 2021, it seems that Blessing Awodibu is in a position to start inspiring his own crop of young bodybuilders coming up. While Blessing has not left a major mark yet in terms of major victories – his continued physique updates showcases a pro bodybuilder to be reckoned with. The New York Pro 2021 will be a big moment. It will either confirm or deny Blessing’s ability to take on the top level bodybuilders at Olympia.

If Blessing Awodibu succeeds – he will soon be a top bodybuilder himself. With all eyes on him, he can then inspire a new generation of athletes himself. We’re excited to see what the future holds.
