Ed Fury enjoyed a successful career on the bodybuilding stage before moving to the big screen.

Former bodybuilder and movie star Ed Fury has passed away in his home in California at the age of 94. Fury’s wife, Shelly, confirmed with The Hollywood ReporterAt this time, no cause of death has been revealed. Fury passed away on Feb. 24 but his family just released the information this week.

Born in 1928, Fury gained a passion for fitness early. As a high school wrestler, Fury began lifting weights and sculpting an impressive physique. In the 1940s, Fury moved to Southern California and became a staple at Muscle Beach. In 1951, he was crowned Mr. Muscle Beach and was awarded for his hard work and dedication.

Ed Fury Began Modeling And Acting Due To His Physique

Ed Fury built such an impressive physique that he quickly began modeling and acting. In the 1950s, he appeared uncredited in seven films, including Abbott and Costello Go To Mars and Gentlemen Prefer Blonds. 

In 1960, Fury landed his role credited role in Colossus and the Amazon Queen. This sparked a successful career on the big screen. Over the next few years, he began landing more and more roles. Fury was cast as the title character in Ursus, which also launched a television career.

After returning to the U.S. after spending some time in Italy, Ed Fury made appearances in some big-name TV shows including The Doris Day Show, Gilligan’s Island, Columbo, Fantasy Island, Medical Center, and Shazam!.

Fury retired from acting in the late 1970s after a career that spanned across three decades. Over the course of his career, he became known for a visually-pleasing physique and versatility within his talents.
