IFBB Pro Wheelchair Bodybuilder Joshua Foster Passes Away At 36

Joshua Foster dies in another tragic loss in the bodybuilding community.

It’s been reported that IFBB Pro Wheelchair bodybuilder Joshua Foster has passed away. He was 36 years old. This news comes after a tragic string of reported deaths in the bodybuilding community including Men’s Open competitor Luke Sandoe and Figure champion Mikayla Kingman.

Joshua Foster passed away of natural causes at his home on Thursday, May 21. The news was published on Instagram by Pro Wheelchair director Nick Scott.

Joshua Foster hailed from Alabama and was heavily interested in playing sports throughout his high school years. Later on March 30, 2013, Foster suffered a spinal cord injury after hydroplaning his car and crashing it. The last thing he remembered before waking up in the hospital was bucking his seatbelt after getting into the car.

Being in a wheelchair didn’t hinder his love of sports and fitness and he pursued Wheelchair bodybuilding eventually going pro. Through his years building muscle in the wheelchair league, he earned the nickname “The Freak.”

In 2015, Foster won the Pinebelt Classic overall and the Vulcan Classic overall. Then in 2016, he won the Wheelchair Nationals and the IFBB to get his Pro card. His last competition was the 2019 Arnold Pro Men’s Wheelchair where he placed 6th.
