The Career of Johnnie Morant

Johnnie Morant enjoyed a successful career at every level he competed. This began in 1986 when he placed second at the NPC Junior Nationals in the Heavyweight division. This was the first step Morant took in earning his Pro Card.

Morant’s venture continued over the next few years. In 1987, he took second at the USA Championships and finished third the very next year. He added another third-place finish at the 1988 North American Championships. Morant would earn his pro card in 1989 by winning the overall title at this very show. He also placed first in the Heavyweight division at the NPC USA Championships.

Morant wasted no time making his debut in the IFBB Pro League, a 10th-place finish at the German Grand Prix. He competed two more times as a rookie (9th at Italy Grand Prix, 4th at Night of Champions).

Johnnie Morant decided to make switch over to the World Bodybuilding Federation in 1991. He placed ninth at the Grand Prix and would spend three years in the league. The WBF eventually went away and Morant returned to the IFBB.

Morant made a name for himself on and off the stage as he was a strong competitor and friend to those who had the pleasure of getting to know him within the industry.
