WATCH – ‘The Bowens: A Portrait Of An American Family’ Official Trailer

A bold new documentary is giving audiences their first real look at a different kind of American household – and it’s arriving just in time for Memorial Day Weekend.

The official trailer for The Bowens: A Portrait Of An American Family has now been released, offering a powerful preview ahead of its May 22, 2026 premiere on Amazon Prime.

From the first frame, it’s clear – this isn’t just a documentary. It’s a statement on what the modern American family could be in this new era of the world and beyond. You can watch the trailer above.

A Glimpse Into A Different Standard

Jordon and Jes Bowen, both military veterans, are raising their children with intention. Homeschooling, discipline, and personal responsibility aren’t optional. They are the baseline.

Their sons, Slade and Brodie, were introduced to training from a young age – lifting weights, staying active, and learning early that strength is earned. It’s a direct contrast to the norm. And the trailer leans into that contrast without apology.

Strength As A Daily Test

Fitness isn’t just part of their lifestyle. It’s a core belief system.

Combining Jordon and Jes’ military background and experience – the film takes audieces inside their family-run gym. Showcasing a culture built on effort and resilience. Parents and kids train together. There’s no separation between learning and doing.

The message is simple: struggle builds character.

Each workout becomes a lesson. Not just in strength, but in persistence, failure, and growth.

Faith And Family First

Underneath the intensity is something quieter but just as important – faith. The trailer is framed with voiceover of Jordon speaking to his faith and how it intersects with how the world is changing today.

“Amongst this hedonistic world, I’ll build my church,” Jordon proclaims at the top of the trailer. “In the depths of what people think is impossible, I’ll bring the spirit.”

The Bowens utilize faith to help guide them through these turbulant times – and as America seems to be redefining itself. But in a metaphorical way, the Bowens are also building their own church – and redefining what is possible vs impossible for the American family in this country.

This is a family that moves as one to help ensure that they are all best equipped to bring the best values into this world. By changing the expectations surrounding fitness and lifestyle – they drill down to the core of what is important to family, to community, and to American culture.

Service That Extends Beyond The Home

One of the most compelling elements of the trailer is Jordon Bowen’s continued service.

As an active member of the Florida State Guard Special Missions Unit, his role goes far beyond fatherhood. The trailer highlights his work in high-risk environments, including efforts aiding civilians in Ukraine during the conflict with Russia.

It’s a moment that shows the balance between protecting the world outside and building a strong foundation at home. It’s not easy.

The documentary takes cameras onto the ground in Ukraine as conflict rages on – with Jordon Bowen risking his life to do what is right by the citizens caught in the crossfire. With the trailer showing glimpses of the visceral experience this film will bring to the forefront.

A Message That Defines The Film

When all fails and the world burns, nothing matters except for hope. This is the tagline that is highlighted within the trailer – and showcases the core element behind the Bowens as a family and the film itself.

At its core, this film isn’t just about one family. It’s about what we choose to pass on when everything else is uncertain.

When And Where To Watch

The Bowens: A Portrait Of An American Family will officially premiere Friday, May 22, 2026, streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

The release lands on Memorial Day Weekend, making it a fitting debut for a story rooted in military service, sacrifice, and American values.
