Looks like Mr. Olympia is going the way of the Arnold Classic.
It’s just been announced that there will now be TWO Mr. Olympia competitions in 2016. Titled the Mr. Olympia Europe, this brand new competition will be taking place in Germany on October 21st, 2016 and feature both professional and amateur bodybuilding competitions as well as Strongman competitions.
The Mr. Olympia proper has long been the pinnacle for bodybuilders – essentially the super bowl of bodybuilding. But it seems like the Olympia franchise is starting to take a trick from Arnold Scwharzenegger’s playbook by expanding the brand’s reach to other countries. The Arnold Classic is now held six times across six different continents – and while the original Arnold Classic in Ohio is still the biggest and filled with the most top competitors… the others always garner respect and often appearances from superstar athletes.

Will this be the future for the Mr. Olympia competition(s)? It certainly seems so. But we’ll have a better understanding after October 2016 – when we can see what kind of showing this new competition gets. Our bet is… this is going to soon be another really, really big one to look forward to.
