“I’ve met so many awesome individuals and I have had such a good time getting into the sport, learning, and obviously going my first super match that I felt like it was only fitting to bring this to the Shaw Classic and to give back to the arm wrestling community.”
Shaw faced Hall in December during The King of the Table 13 in Atlantic City, NJ. It was a packed card where the main event was Levan Saginashvili and Jerry Cardorette. Both Shaw and Hall have been training in different ways to accomplish upcoming goals. This includes MMA training as both have expressed an interest in stepping in the ring. There was an initial agreement for an event this year but the details of the contract fell through. Sights then shifted over to arm wrestling.
Shaw has been motivated in his pursuit and is now adding a new wrinkle into the strongman competition.
Brian Shaw Announces Arm Wrestling Matches
Shaw named three arm wrestling matches that will take place at the Strongest Man on Earth. He expects that there will be more coming but for now, he shared these matchups:
- Brian Shaw vs. Brandon Allen
- Eddie Hall vs. Robert Oberst
- Sarah Backman vs. Gabby Vasconcelos
“I will be going against Brandon Allen. Brandon is a guy that’s coming from the powerlifting world. He had a 2,430-pound total in classic raw and he walked out with a 1,008-pound squat. So obviously a big, big strength pedigree that Brandon brings to the table.”
Eddie Hall is preparing to take on Mariusz Pudzianowski in an MMA fight but will train for this arm wrestling event. He has already taken on Shaw in the sport and will move onto a new opponent.
“I know he’s got the fight with Mariusz Pudzianowski but after that, he is fully committed to training for arm wrestling and he’s very excited. I think he’s very excited about his opponent because his opponent will be Robert Oberst.”
