Brian Shaw explains why the competition might be taking a break next year.
The Strongman season is prepared to turn the calendar to 2026 and might be without one of the biggest shows of the year. Brian Shaw shared a recent edition of his podcast where he discussed his Strongest Man on Earth competition. After six years, Shaw shared that he might be forced to skip the show in 2026.

“In 2026, at least at this point, we have to say that we’re skipping 2026 and then hopefully, some of the conversations escalate, some things get better and then potentially there may be a chance in 2027 to do it.”
The Strongest Man on Earth competition has turned into one of the elite shows of the year with some of the biggest names in Strongman. After the 2025 event, Shaw saw many questions being asked and this brought up uncertainty from an organizational standpoint on if it can continue.

Brian Shaw Talks Strongest Man On Earth Future
It takes a lot for Brian Shaw, his family, and his team to put on this show each year. As he attempts to grow it each year, more work and more money is required. Aside from not bringing home a profit, Shaw shared the physical toll that it took to make it all happen.
“I had given every part of my being, my soul, to that weekend and I literally just had to sit down…I just remember I was broken, I took myself and this was not the first time, this was just the strongest feeling that I’d had. My soul is like broken.”
With all things considered, Shaw and his family believe that the 2025 edition of the show reached a breaking point. This made Shaw want to focus on his own health, along with that of his family.
“We can’t take ourselves to that breaking point. It’s tough to say, and I don’t like it because I’m competitive, and I don’t like saying that we can’t go to that point, four our family, for our health. We just can’t do that.”
The competition is not officially cancelled for the 2026 season but has hinted that it would take a lot for the show to take place. Brian Shaw is still attempting to find a solution to make the show happen. This could be thought of from an organizational standpoint along with finances. Even if the show is not going to happen next year, Shaw already has given thought to 2027.
“We still have time if some of the conversations that are ongoing happen, but I don’t want to sit here and say ‘hey, yep let’s hold out all the hope in the world and we’re going to bring it back in 2026.’ I would love to say that but the reality is something has to happen for it to come back.”
