Catalin Stefanescu died on a fishing trip at 30 years old.

Romanian bodybuilding champion Catalin Stefanescu died at the age of 30 after drowning in a shallow lake on Sunday. Stefanescu is a bodybuilder who who gold while representing his country of Romania. According to Targoviste News, Stefanescu was found in a three-foot lake while on a fishing trip with a friend. The exact cause of death is being examined.

Stefanescu and a friend were fishing in Lazuri in Romania’s Dambovita County on Sunday. Stefanescu was left alone while his friend returned home quickly. When he returned, the bodybuilder was face down and unconscious in the lake. An ambulance rushed to the scene and later pronounced Stefanescu dead.

Police continue to investigate to determine what caused Stefanescu to drown. The Dambovita County Police released a statement following the tragedy.

“The police were notified by the administrator of a lake about a deceased person. Upon arrival at the scene, the police found that a 30-year-old man, while fishing on a lake in Lazuri, had been found drowned. Investigations are underway to establish precisely all the circumstances of the event.”

Police will investigate the cause of death. All circumstances are being looked into, including if a sudden illness or other factor caused Stefanescu’s drowning.

Lindner was an extremely popular figure who built a reputation using his incredible physique and personality. It was shared that Lindner passed away due to an aneurysm. Since then, fitness experts have been studying his rare condition known as rippling muscle disease to learn more about the condition and if it had any role in Lindner’s passing.

Over the last two years, the bodybuilding world specifically has been hit hard with many tragic deaths. Former Olympia champion Shawn Rhoden passed away suddenly at the end of 2021. George Peterson and Cedric McMillan also passed away due to heart complications. This has brought up the issue of steroids in the sport.
