The never ending debate.

It’s an argument that has existed for as long as we can remember. “Natty or not” is a phrase often brought up when talking about bodybuilding. You have many people who believe that natural bodybuilding is the sport or activity in it’s purest form as opposed to using gear like steroids to achieve a physique that’s impossible to attain without unnatural means. There are people on different sides of the argument, ideologies that are in direct conflict with each other.

On one side, you have those that believe natural bodybuilding is more pure and ultimately safer than bodybuilding with steroids. Others believe that with the right dosages, bodybuilding with steroids can be perfectly safe and grant you a physique that most humans could never even dream of achieving. Natural bodybuilding has a considerable amount of testing for their competition as opposed to bodybuilding in the IFBB which is less strict on their testing program.

Natural bodybuilders usually have physiques that appear to be more attainable through hard work and nutrition, where IFBB pros have physiques so freakishly built that it’d be impossible to attain without some kind of X factor. It’s something that many young bodybuilders don’t comprehend and should be educated on the fact that certain physiques they see on television and the internet are necessarily naturally attained. There’s nothing too bad about that, but it’s a reality that everyone should realize before coming to their own conclusions.

For the most part most people stay silent on the issue (especially professional athletes of any kind) and let it get swept under the rug. Just turn an eye away from it all and let things fall as they may. But there are a few who are willing to put their opinions out there and put a spotlight on the very issue.

You may know Chris Jones from Physiques of Greatness and PumpChasers – well he’s one of the guys who has no problem weighing in on his opinions surrounding bodybuilding in natural competitions as opposed to the IFBB. In the video he also touches on Dexter Jackson’s impressive year and why he believes it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone paying attention.
