Chris Bumstead spoke to the next generation of bodybuilders in a recent video.
Chris Bumstead is one of the biggest figures in bodybuilding — both on and off the stage. He has created a brand for himself at a young age and it is only growing with each Olympia title. Right now, there are few better for young bodybuilders to listen to than Bumstead.
During a recent Instagram post, Bumstead was asked about advice he would give to young competitors and his answer was clear.
“What would I tell a young bodybuilder? I mean, I would just tell young bodybuilders just to chill the f*ck out and to be better than you on your first prep or the prep before.”
As a five-time Classic Physique Olympia champion, Bumstead has led the field since 2019, overtaking the previous champion, Breon Ansley. Bumstead’s path to triumph has been remarkable, marked by his resilience in facing challenges.
Chris Bumstead: “Just Get Better Every Single Year”
Chris Bumstead has found what works for him year in and year out. He will not go for his sixth Classic Physique Olympia title come October.
“Bodybuilding is such a nuanced game of perfecting as many little things as possible to add up into a big thing. So, if you cheated on your diet twice last prep, cheat on that once this time. Save some room for improvement.”

Chris Bumstead has gone through many difficulties during his prep over the years. He knows how to battle through it and knows to never expect perfection. This was his final piece of advice for the next generation.
“Never expect perfection. If your first prep is your worst prep, then you’re off to a great start. Just accept things as they come and try not to overthink it because there’s always another show. Just learn from your mistakes and get better every single year.”
