Could Conor McGregor’s retirement announcement link to these allegations?

Conor McGregor is back in headlines once again. After numerous counts of reckless behavior and law breaking, it appears that Conor McGregor is being accused of pretty terrible crime. Allegedly Conor McGregor is under investigation in his home country of Ireland for sexual assault, according to four people familiar with the investigation.

At this point the investigation is still ongoing as Conor McGregor has not yet been charged with a crime, according to The New York Times. The woman who has accused McGregor says the assault occurred in December at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. McGregor has been an occassional guest at the hotel in recent years, renting out the penthouse suite. His most recent stay at the hotel was back in December.

McGregor’s publicist, Karen J. Kessler, did not directly address whether or not the allegations were true, but said in a statement:

“This story has been circulating for some time, and it is unclear why it is being reported now,” read the statement.

She went on to address if McGregor’s retirement announcement had anything to do with the allegations against him.

“The assumption that the Conor retirement announcement today is related to this rumor is absolutely false.”
