DANIEL CORMIER’S 6’10 TRAINING PARTNER MIGHT BE THE DEATH OF JON JONES

Chi Lewis - Parry

And the plot thickens

On the MMA hour yesterday there was a slew of people that you would probably want to hear from. John Kavanagh, RDA, Jake Shields, Matt Mitrione and much more. All interesting guests on the wake of UFC 196, however, there was one guest that came out of the woodwork, one dark horse that no one would expect…except for Daniel Cormier of course. The dark horse we’re talking about goes by the name of Chi Lewis-Parry. The 6’10 (6-0) OneFC kickboxer came on the show (virtually out of nowhere) claiming that he wanted nothing else but to help Daniel Cormier beat Jon Jones. In case you haven’t heard, Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier are set for their second dance at UFC 197 in April. In case you also didn’t know, the first one didn’t go so well for DC as he ended up losing a unanimous (49-46) decision to the former champion. So what’s he going to different? It seems he’s got a trick up his sleeve the size of a heavyweight. Chi Lewis - Parry 1 Chi Lewis-Parry claims he had no opinion of Jon Jones before the UFC “Unstoppable” press conference, but after a verbal altercation between Jon Jones and team AKA, has described him as “one of the most disrespectful human beings I’ve ever met.” While one of Jon Jones’s teammates said Daniel’s team is the one that started the beef, we’ve got a short snippet of the altercation below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1LENwJ7Ms0   After the initial altercation, the was another verbal altercation the night of the fight. According to Ariel Helwani, Chi Lewis – Parry and Jon Jones’s brothers (Arthur, and Ash Jones) had a heated riff in the front row seats. What I like about this guy is that he brings a legitimate thug presence to the good guy rep of team AKA. Sometime you need a little street, some time you need a little muscle. Anyone with any sort of emotional intelligence will tell you that Daniel Cormier is the softer of the two fighters. He seems to get more agitated and off of his emotional center during verbal warfare. Though Jones is not a true bad boy as the Diaz brothers are, he definitely feels he can beat cormier again and has no problem asserting his dominance. You can agree to disagree but I digress. With the addition of Chi Lewis-Parry, you get an English man with the cockney disrespectful attitude of an old school Dan Hardy. You can tell this guy definitely has had a couple street scuffles in his day, and that’s exactly the squeaky clean, good guy, pure athlete team needs. However… What was mentioned as a passing comment during the MMA hour also peaked my attention. What if Chi Lewis – Parry is doing this as a comeup? as a way to get his name out there. After all he’s probably best known for beefing with Brandon Vera before their One Championship 35 bout. Or even worse…a trojan horse. Could this be the doing of Jon Jones to quench the thirst of a desperate Daniel Cormier? Only time will tell, but this beef is slowly turning into a VH1 reality show.
