Speculation: Did Hafthor Bjornsson Lose World’s Strongest Man Competition Because of Injury?

Hafthor Bjornsson takes third place at the 2019 World’s Strongest Man.

The 2019 world strongest man has come and gone. While many were expecting Hafthor Bjornsson to once again take home the prize and title of World’s Strongest Man, it appeared that several factors kept the Game of Thrones star from repeating in 2019.

Hafthor Bjornsson ended up taking 3rd place in the competition falling behind new champion Martin Licis and strong challenger Mateusz Kieliszkowski. Hafthor Bjornsson has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with on the strongman circuit. Despite that fact, Hafthor Bjornsson couldn’t get the job done at the 2019 show despite dominating the competition all year long.

This has led to the speculation that the injury he suffered on the first day of competition was the reason why Hafthor Bjornsson finished in third place.

After suffering an injury to his plantar fascia, Hafthor Bjornsson had to battle through pain and anguish to beat the odds and reach the top of the heap during the competition. Meanwhile Martin Licis surged past the other competitors to take the top spot at the event and looked impressive in doing so.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski also showcased some impressive strength during the competition climbing all the way to second place, even managing to overcome Hafthor Bjornsson.

Even if the injury was a hindrance to Hafthor Bjornsson, it is still extremely impressive that the 2018 World’s Strongest man was able to take third place. Everything is speculation at this point, but we must acknowledge that Hafthor Bjornsson’s fellow competitors showcased some incredible strength in taking first and second place at the event.

Do you think the injury to Hafthor Bjornsson hinder his success at the 2019 World’s Strongest Man?
