In this clip, Dorian Yates and his peers describe the method behind the madness of Blood and Guts training as well as the origin of his intense training style.
Ask any modern bodybuilder today what inspired them to become a pro bodybuilder and they will all provide the same answer. Blood and Guts training was a video of legend. It was the deepest insight into the bodybuilder so mysterious he was known as The Shadow. It was also one of the most intense and motivational workout videos ever recorded. This was a time before the internet and before YouTube. This was a time where a video like this just didn’t happen… but then it did all thanks to Dorian Yates.
But Blood and Guts is more than a video. It’s a state of mind. It’s representative of the very specific reason that Dorian Yates became a legend in the sport of bodybuilding and earned six Mr. Olympia titles. This wasn’t simply hard work (although he was training very, very hard). It was an intense focus and obsession with studying to perfect his intense training style. He worked his brain just as hard as he worked his muscle.
Known for taking vigorous notes every single day. Dorian Yates had journaled his training routines and studies into perfecting his training throughout 1984 all the way into the 90’s. It was his bible and it’s that laser focus that eventually lead to the creation of the Blood and Guts video.
In this exclusive clip, get a glimpse at the legendary pages and a deep exploration of the origins of Blood and Guts straight from Dorian Yates’ mouth alongside his family who witnessed it all first hand and other legendary bodybuilders such as Chris Cormier, King Kamali, and Jay Cutler. Check it out in the clip above!
