There is a common thread that many people talk about when comparing the Golden Era to today – and that thread is bodybuilders seem to be less unified and friendly with each other in the modern era. Looking back at Pumping Iron – the legendary greats would all pal around despite the intense rivalries on stage. That doesn’t seem to be the case today (just look at Generation Iron for some proof of that).
There seems to be more conflict and hate both on and off the stage. And we’re not just talking about the athletes. Companies, the media, and even fans seem to be much more disgruntled compared to the past. Perhaps the internet plays a large role in that – giving a larger group an anonymous voice to troll and complain. But is this shift ruining bodybuilding? Flex Wheeler goes into detail about his experiences with haters in his past… and how it has changed during his comeback today. Check it out above.
