From Judo To Bodybuilding, Florian Lesellier Climbs To International Status

Florian Lesellier goes from judo to bodybuilding.

In March 2018, just seven months after his competitive bodybuilding debut, Florian Lesellier became IFBB 2018 French Champion in the Men’s Physique category -173.

The 26- year old competitor has been on a whirlwind. After his second-place finish at the Nice Bodybuilding Grand Prix last September, he told ACTU:

“I still do not realize what’s happening to me.Since the Nice Grand Prix I spent about a month relaxing and focusing on my coaching activity and my judo clubs, not to mention sharing time with my family and friends, while keeping five to six weekly workouts. “

Then came the time to prepare to face the best French of my category. Hard work almost daily to strengthen my strengths and improve my weaknesses.

Florian said his mind is his most powerful weapon. And he brought in a wealth of mental experience from the extremely technical and grueling sport of Judo:

“I used all the experience that I could accumulate during my judo competitions and also on the previous competitions I participated in. But it is true that the stake of a championship of France is always particular. The psychological aspect is an important thing, both in success but also in failure. I told myself that anyway I had done the hardest and had to take pleasure to regret nothing.”

To compete at the French National championships, Florian first had to place at a semifinal, held in Gravelines, in Hauts-de-France.

Florian’s success as the French champion qualifies him to compete in the selection of the French team which will represent at the European Championship to be held in Sante Suzana, Spain, from May 2nd to 7th.

“I learned a lot from this first competition which allowed me to gain experience and serenity. I now know where I am going, I know my body and how it reacts to the training volume and the strict diet. Everything is possible if you believe in your dreams.”
