GI WORKOUT SONG OF THE WEEK 6/6/2016

ali workout headerA great power was lost this weekend.

Over the weekend the world lost one of the greatest athletes and inspirational figures in modern times, Muhammad Ali. As a former Heavyweight champion and the greatest boxer of all time, Ali was truly a sight to behold from his technical prowess to his supreme confidence inside and out of the ring. But besides his stature as prize fighter, Ali was a man who stood for something in a time when African Americans were treated with inequality and racism.

The actions that Ali took, namely his refusal to fight in the Vietnam War, was one of the greatest acts of bravery and individuality ever displayed. He wanted to focus on peace rather than taking part in a war that he felt he had no place in. Muhammad Ali was a man of peace who wanted equal rights for all human beings. He didn’t just use his prize fighting fame to simply collect money and boast that he was the greatest. Ali wished for all humankind to come together, to love and respect one another. As far as motivational athletes go, there was no one like Muhammad Ali and likely will never be another of his ilk again. The Generation Iron wishes a fond farewell to Muhammad Ali, The Greatest.

Influenced by Muhammad Ali’s rhyming style, LL Cool J utilized his MC skills to produce some of the most memorable tracks in hip-hop history. It’s only fitting that this week’s song would be one of LL Cool J’s most testosterone infused tracks.
