Thor was crowned champion at the event for the 12th time.
The 2025 Iceland’s Strongest Man competition has been dominated by Hafthor Bjornsson in the past and he entered the weekend looking to add to his trophy case.
The competition began on Friday, Aug 8th with four events following by four more on Saturday, Aug 9th. In the end, the 2018 World’s Strongest Man (WSM), Bjornsson took home four victories and was crowned champion of the competition for the 12th time.

2025 Iceland’s Strongest Man Event Results
Event One – Husafell Stone
The first event of the day was the Husafell Stone carry. This is a well-known event around the world involving the 186kg (410lb) stone. Competitors were asked to carry this stone for distance. Paddy Haynes dominated the event ,setting a new world record on his way to victory.

Event Two – Max Log Lift
The second event tested upper-body strength of the athletes. They were tested with setting a max log lift for one rep. Hafthor Bjornsson looked healthy following a pec tear and earned his first of four victories.

This was a timed event with athletes having to complete the following course:

- 100kg Sandbag Carry for 15 meters
- 110kg Sandbag Carry for 10 meters
- 120kg Sandbag Carry for 5 meters

Event Four – Deadlift
This was a two-day event and the final challenge of day one was the deadlift. This was a max rep event with Strongmen having to complete as many as possible with a 320kg (705.5lb) bar.

Event Five – Weight Over Bar
The second day began with the weight over bar event. The bar was set at 4.5 meters with the bag increasing in weight each round. Bjornsson has excelled at this event over the course of his career and started day two strong with a win.

Event Six – Farmer’s Walk
Grip strength was added into the mix with the Farmer’s Walk as the sixth event. Athletes would have to hold a 160kg (352.7lb) weight while moving across the floor. This was a distance-based event with Evans Aryee cruising to victory.

Event Seven – Dumbbell Press
The dumbbell press was made up of athletes completing the most reps possible with a 90kg (198.4lb) dumbbell. Bjornsson continued a strong second day with a victory showing off his overhead strength.
