Hafthor Bjornsson will appear in an exhibition contest during the event attempting to break his own 505kg record.
2018 Worlds Strongest Man (WSM) Hafthor Bjornsson has taken his deadlift to the next level since his return to powerlifting and has his eyes on an even-bigger number. Thor recently announced that he will attempt to reset his own world record once again during the 2026 Enhanced Games in May 2026 at the Resorts World in Las Vegas.

The Enhanced Games is an Olympic-style event that will take place at Resorts World Las Vegas from May 21-24. This is a three-event competition but Bjornsson will compete in an exhibition event as he attempts to break his own world record.
“I’m coming to the Enhanced Games for one purpose — to break the deadlift record again. I’m going to make history again and make the floor shake.”
Hafthor Bjornsson reset his own deadlift world record in July with a 505kg (1,113.3lb) lift during the 2025 Eisenhart Black Competition in Germany. Thor used a deadlift suit and lifting straps to complete the lift. This was the reason he made his return to powerlifting and has accomplished goals of taking his performance to the next level. Thor has gone from Strongman to boxing and back into Strongman. Bjornsson has expressed interest in competing in big-name competitions while also taking his deadlift to the next level.

What Are The Enhanced Games?
The Enhanced Games will feature three events and competitors will be allowed to be on different substances to enhance performance. The three events are as followed:
- Swimming – 50m and 100m Freestyle, 50m and 100m Butterfly
- Track & Field – 100m Sprint, 100m/110m Hurdles
- Weightlifting – Snatch, Clean & Jerk
Athletes will go through different tests to be able to compete, including bloodwork, MRI’s, and echocardiograms. Competitive swimmer Andriy Govorov joined Dr. Aron D’Souza to discuss the games. Govorov plans to break his own world record in the pool during the games. He believes that elite sports are not always safe and this is a chance for athletes to learn about themselves.
“What Enhanced Games is offering is giving an opportunity to research yourself, learn from yourself, and get that additional boost to preserve yourself.”
D’Souza, who founded Enhanced Games, believes that there will likely be pushback against this event from the public who believe that steroids are dangerous and should be out of sports entirely. D’Souza did not completely disagree with the dangers of certain substances but that is if they are taken without supervision. He continued to explain how if steroids are administered by a professional, they can be safe.
Hafthor Bjornsson will bring even more attention to the event in 2026 as he attempts to reset his own record and reach heights that no other man has before. Bjornsson has reached 505kg and has been training to get to 510kg in the future. That has a chance to go down in May in Las Vegas during the Enhanced Games.
