HEARTY GAINS: HOW A STRONG HEART KEEPS YOU PUMPING

Keep your body pumping with a healthy heart.

We may be on the hunt for the ultimate physical form, but what about your internal health? We tend to forget that working the insides is just as important as the outside. The heart is the engine for your body. Without it there’s no way you’d even have the energy to lift you hand much less lift a barbell. It’s a muscle that should be worked just as much as your biceps to keep strong and healthy. Take a look at some of our tips to keep you heart in fighting form.
.

Omega 3 Fish Oil

Besides the health benefits for your joints and brain functionality, fish oil contains essential fats that are beneficial for heart health. You can’t get the benefits of the essential fatty acids naturally, so eating fish or taking the proper supplementation will go leaps and bounds in keeping your heart strong. You’ll also benefit from the fact that it helps to burn fat and help soothe sore muscles.
.

Eat Protein

Perhaps a the simplest thing on this list to remember to follow, get some lean protein into your diet. Besides giving you those desired gains in the gym, protein will work wonders for your heart valve. Not a bad reason to get that chicken or steak thawed out and cooked up.

.

Lift Some Weights

This one is a no brainer. Lifting weights has proven to help melt away visceral fat that can build up around the internal organs including the heart. By lifting and burning away at the fat the risk of cardiovascular disease decreases dramatically. In other words, keep doing what you’re doing.
.

Oolong Tea

Yeah, you may not be a big tea drinker, but there’s no denying the positive effects of oolong tea. For one it works as a great fat loss dietary drink. It helps to metabolize fat at a high rate. Second, it helps regulates and even lowers cholesterol. Studies show a reduced rate of heart attacks with those who drank the tea.
.

Garlic Powder

It may not give yiu the best breath, but garlic powder can do wonders for heart health. Studies have been conducted showing a drastic decrease in cholesterol when taking garlic pills. Whether its in supplement form or being used as a seasoning it can’t hurt to get some garlic into your diet.
.

Cardio

I know a lot of people out there refuse to do cardio because they believe it burns muscle. While it’s possible for cardio exercises to burn muscle as well as fat it does do your heart a lot of good. Don’t be too obsessive with your weight lifting. Make sure to add some cardio into your routine and do your heart some good.
.

Slow down on the Smoking

Yeah we thought you’d find that funny too.

.

Take these tips and add them into your regimen and thank us later. If you have any other tips for heart health let us know in the comments below and be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
