Iain Valliere Confirms He’s No Longer Coaching Chris Bumstead

Iain Valliere and Chris Bumstead have split.

It appears that Iain Valliere will no longer act as prep coach for Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead. The in-laws confirmed that they have made a split in their training relationship in a recent YouTube video.

For some time now, many had speculated that Chris Bumstead had been training under a new coach. Speculation has ran rampant, with many believing that Bumstead could be working with Hany Rambod, which has yet to be confirmed. This, of course, led to many believing that Bumstead and Ian Valliere had parted ways. Now that fact has been confirmed.

In a recent video Chris Bumstead and Iain Valliere reveal their current training relationship. While they remain on good terms, they have decided to part ways as far as Valliere being Bumstead’s prep coach. The two are still training together however which means Valliere will likely still provide some help to his brother-in-law from time to time.

New video is live training legs with @iainvalliere and @markaburger anddd addressing the elephant in the room of me and Iain no longer working together…. Link in my bio👀
Most importantly I want to express my gratitude for all that we have accomplished from the Sudbury Championships to winning 3 Olympia titles. All this while elevating his own career to be one of the best bodybuilders in the world, one of these tasks is difficult, but both at the same time is crazy.
I owe so much of my success to this man from my training philosophies to my standard of hard work. What we’ve accomplished will forever be some of my greatest memories.
We go over more details in the video🙏🏻

Changing Times

Iain Valliere simply doesn’t have the time to coach Chris Bumstead like he’s done in the past. Valliere has to get ready for the Olympia himself which means far less time to painstakingly help Bumstead prepare for his own Classic Physique title defense. Truth be told it makes total sense. But as the video below shows, both men are on good terms and are still in each other’s corners.

“Look we’re both in prep for the Olympia as well and you know there’s obviously other things on our mind,” said Iain Valliere. “This felt like the right time to come with it, so we want to sit down and kind of talk to you about where we’re at in our coaching relationship.”

Chris Bumstead gave a definitive answer to that question.

“Me and Iain will not be working together this year as a coach-client relationship,” said Chris Bumstead. “It wasn’t an easy decision for either of us, absolutely.

“It’s hard to coach someone,” Bumstead continued. “It’s almost more stressful for a coach sometimes because you take on the stress and the responsibilities on what to do so they don’t have to think and to imagine doing that while also being the competitor at the Olympia, that’s like an equal priority.”

To get the full details take a look at the video here where both Iain Valliere and Chris Bumstead also do some leg day training.
