Israel Adesanya Mock Pisses On The Cage: “I’m The New Dog In The Yard”

Israel Adesanya is an absolute kickboxing beast.

Israel Adesanya made a massive splash at UFC 221 in Perth on Saturday, making his UFC debut with an impressive TKO win over Rob Wilkinson in the second round.

Although new to the UFC, 28-year-old Adesanya is a combat sports veteran, having fought in GLORY Kickboxing and various boxing matches. He amassed a 65-5-2 in combat sports before entering the UFC.

In the Octagon Adesanya lived up to and beyond the hype. Although Wilkinson managed to ground him 3 times, the Nigerian kickboxer sprang back up to land clean fluid strikes throughout the opening rounds.

In Adesanya’s words, he ‘slow cooked’ Wilkinson in the first round and ‘fried him’ in the second. A seemingly effortless TKO victory earned him his $50k Performance Of The Night bonus.

But it might have been Adesanya’s actions before and after the fight that caught the most attention. Walking into the cage, he mimed what appeared to be urinating on the cage post. After the fight he explained himself

“Middleweights, I’m the new dog in the yard. And I just pissed all over this cage.”

And in the post-fight scrum he continued, “Came in the cage, pissed everywhere. I know dogs, when they’re dominant; when a dog walks into a dog park – head high, tail high, and just kinda pees all over the place to mark his territory. And let them know, ‘that’s my spot’. That’s how dogs communicate with body language, so I just pissed all over the place.”

The fascinating question for Adesanya is- how good is his grappling, or so-called ‘anti-grapping?’ Will he be able to stop the ground game of elite Middleweights? His striking is already elite, no doubt, and he is as relaxed in the cage as one could hope. The UFC will likely next pair him with another fresh Middleweight to gauge his abilities and build him up as a prospect, but if Adesanya truly has the antidote to a wrestling style, his graceful striking could carry him to the belt.
