Chris Bumstead dominated the Classic Physique division for years and it is now looking for its replacement.
The Classic Physique division was dominated by Chris Bumstead for years before he announced his retirement. After six consecutive Olympia competitions that saw Bumstead at the top, there is a new spot open and many are wondering where his replacement might be. At 22 years old, Jack Eagles might be viewed as the next up-and-coming star in bodybuilding.
Eagles began competing at a young age just three years ago before taking his physique to the next level. Last year, Eagles took home gold at the NPC Worldwide European Championship. He became the UK’s youngest IFBB Pro after earning his pro card. Eagles has gained plenty of attention as he competes in the Classic Physique division.
During a recent episode of The Menace Podcast, the panel brought up the future of the Classic Physique division.
“The last six years, it was all based off of Chris Bumstead. Now, since Chris is gone, now it’s up to the judges to decide — where are we going with this?”
The future of Classic Physique could already be competing in the division but many commenters brought up the emergence of Eagles.

Who Will Take Over Classic Physique?
Jack Eagles joined the podcast and shared that Bumstead is his favorite bodybuilder of all-time. He could use the six-time champion as motivation to reach his ultimate goals and fans have been put on notice.
“Jack is the next star I think. He has one super physique and a marketable look.”
“It only takes one chance for someone to run with it.”
“I like the fact that they are giving the chance for an up and comer to make a name.”
The Classic Physique division gave us quite a show at the most recent Olympia. In a division where aesthetics, symmetry, and mass are critical, Mike Sommerfeld delivered a performance that pushed Bumstead to the limit. His second-place finish was a surprise to many, as he managed to trail the reigning champion by a mere three points on the judges’ scorecards.
He impressed with noticeable improvements, particularly in the size and separation of his lower body, while maintaining a balanced upper physique. His efforts gave him the edge over other formidable competitors like Urs Kalecinski and Ramon Queiroz.
With this trio moving forward, along with a likely-improved Wesley Vissers, the Classic Physique division is in good hands moving forward and many will be vying for that top spot. Eventually, Jack Eagles could be thrown into the mix.
