First image from the Road House remake shows off Jake Gyllenhaal’s latest physique transformation – and he looks shredded
Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in the remake of Road House, and the first ever promotional image from the film shows the extend that Gyllenhaal went to transform his physique to peak form. The promotional photo shows Jake Gyllenhaal shirtless, bulked up, and shredded to the bone.
The image itself stems from Amazon Studios’ sizzle reel released on Thursday, showcasing a variety of preview clips from upcoming films. One such clip showed a brief shot of Jake Gyllenhaal, playing the character originally portrayed by Patrick Swayze in the original Road House.
Rotten Tomatoes has since shared a still from the shot – and it’s been going viral due to the incredible size and conditioning sported on Gyllenhaal’s physique. Check it out below:

Part remake, part reimagining – the upcoming Road House feature follows a former UFC fighter (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) who “takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise,” according to the official press release.
The Road House remake is directed by Go helmer Doug Liman and costars Daniela Melchior alongside Lukas Gage.
This isn’t the first time Jake Gyllenhaal has shown off his shredded physique – nor is it the first time he got ripped for a movie role. Gyllenhaal first teased his role in the Road House remake by appearing at UFC 285 in Las Vegas while shooting scenes for the film.
Gyllenhaal took part in the weigh-in alongside former UFC fighter Jay Hieron – who will also appear in Road House.
Beyond the upcoming Road House remake, Jake Gyllenhaal also portrayed a boxer in the 2015 film Southpaw. Similar to this film, Gyllenhaal put himself through an incredible workout regimen in order to transform his physique into a ripped athlete fitting of the boxer he was portraying in the film.
While Jake Gyllenhaal has often been in some sort of shape for majority of his adult career, his transformation is shocking compared to the skinny young actor when he first started. Most notable for playing the title role in the film Donnie Darko, Gyllenhall appeared a goofy scrawny kid caught up in some sci-fi nonsense that eventually found a cult following.
Fast foward to today, and Gyllenhaal has risen up to an A-list actor with an incredible calibre of performances under his belt. He went from Donnie Darko to shredded leading man. Even so, Road House pushes his physique to the next level on a scale we’ve rarely seen on the actor.
The Road House remake will hit Amazon Prime on March 21st.
