World’s Strongest Woman organizers share statement following controversial decision on Jammie Booker.
The final results of the 2025 World’s Strongest Woman (WSW) competition brought on plenty of controversy. Jammie Booker was victorious during the event but chaos ensued when it was shared that she was born a man. Once this information came to light, the organizers of the competition made the decision to strip Booker of the title. Booker was crowned champion over the weekend on November 22nd during the World’s Strongest Woman event in Arlington, Texas.
On Tuesday, many outlets shared the news that organizers put out a statement following their decision. In this post, we detail the investigation by organizers who now allege that Booker violated rules of the contest that stipulate that athletes must compete in the category that aligns with their biological sex at birth.
“It appears that an athlete who is biologically male and who now identifies as a female competed in the Women’s Open category. Official Strongman officials were unaware of this fact ahead of the competition and we have been urgently investigating since being informed.”
It began immediately after the competition when Andrea Thompson, who was initially the runner-up, was filmed leaving the podium and seemingly saying “this is bullsh*t.” Organizers adjusted the places accordingly and Thompson has been named the new champion.
“Had we been aware, or had this been declared at any point or during the competition, this athlete would not have been permitted to compete in the Women’s Open category. We are clear — competitors can only compete in the category for the biological sex recorded at birth.”
Strongwomen React to Competition Results
Andrea Thompson, now champion, was filmed angry on the podium following the event. Following the decision from the organizers on Tuesday, Thompson shared a message of her own explaining what this experience was like, including her frustration and a call to protect women’s sports.
“I am not only frustrated with not being able to celebrate a win, but also for the ladies who had their time to shine on the podium or reach the final day, taken away from them.
Honoring the title to me, which is something we just don’t see in any other sport that has faced a similar position.
This means that we, as a community ARE taking a stand. Protecting women’s sport as we have fought so hard for.”
Thompson is not the only competitor to speak out following this occurrence. Rebecca Roberts is one of the top competitors in the world and a former three-time World’s Strongest Woman champion. She continues to compete at a high level while also speaking out about the sport. She shared a post on Monday with a picture of words expressing “Protect Women’s Sports.”
“I hold no hate toward transgender people,” Roberts wrote. “Everyone deserves dignity, respect, and the freedom to live their truth. But I cannot stay silent about something that threatens the fairness and future of women’s strength sports.”
Roberts continued to express her feelings that transgender women, who were born male, should not be competing in women’s categories. She believes that trans people do belong in strength sports but not in certain divisions.
“My message is simple.
Trans people belong in sport, but women’s divisions must remain biologically born female-only. I love this sport. I have given my life to it. And I won’t ignore something that could quietly change it forever.”
