The powerlifting superstar delivered a massive 485-kilogram raw squat and 1,154-kilogram total during a record-breaking performance in Texas.
Powerlifting sensation Jesus Olivares continues to push the boundaries of human strength. The American superheavyweight delivered another historic performance at the 2026 Avancus Houston competition on October 4 in Houston, Texas, setting two unofficial International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) world records in the +120KG weight class.
Olivares highlighted his performance with an incredible 485-kilogram (1,069.2-pound) raw squat, surpassing his own official IPF world record. He also finished the competition with a massive 1,154-kilogram (2,544.1-pound) total, exceeding another world record he previously established.
The performance further cemented Olivares’ reputation as one of the strongest powerlifters in the world.
Jesus Olivares Breaks Unofficial Squat and Total World Records
Olivares entered the competition weighing 190.4 kilograms (419.8 pounds) and successfully completed all nine of his attempts across the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
His biggest moment came during the squat portion of the competition.
After opening with 430 kilograms (948 pounds), Olivares increased the weight to 460 kilograms (1,014.1 pounds) on his second attempt. He completed both lifts convincingly before loading an astonishing 485 kilograms (1,069.2 pounds) onto the barbell for his final attempt.
The lift did not come easily.
Olivares encountered a difficult sticking point as he attempted to drive upward from the bottom of the squat. However, he managed to power through the challenging portion of the movement and complete the lift.
The successful attempt surpassed his official IPF world record of 478 kilograms (1,053.8 pounds), which he established at the 2024 IPF Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.
Olivares was not finished making history.
After completing his bench press and deadlift attempts, he finished with a combined total of 1,154 kilograms (2,544.1 pounds). That mark exceeded his official IPF world record of 1,152.5 kilograms (2,540.8 pounds), set at the 2023 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships.
Both performances are considered unofficial IPF world records because they were achieved outside an IPF-sanctioned competition.
