On Jan. 18, TMZ reported that Kali was hospitalized after fainting during a workout in a California gym. There was no immediate reason given for the fall but speculation began about a heart attack. Kali, who’s real name is Chuck Kirkendall, confirmed this during his video.

“January 17th, I had another heart attack. Not at home, not asleep, at the gym. I went into full cardiac arrest, I hit my head hard, I didn’t walk out.”

Kali explained that he woke up in the hospital and that doctors had to put in two additional stents and a defibrillator. He suffered a previous heart attack in 2021 that was caused by a clogged left artery, which is a common side effects of anabolics. This is when Kali decided to cut out steroids all together and has been a major advocate against the substances since.

Kali Muscle Talks Heart Attack & Coma

After this incident, Kali Muscle was unable to walk out of the gym. He required help from the EMT that was working out at the gym before being taken to a nearby hospital. The EMT performed CPR until the ambulance came.

“I hit my head, I was told I started snoring. EMT that was in the gym working out came and did CPR and shout out to him, I can’t wait to meet him. He saved my life. I’m unconscious, I come to find out I was in an induced coma for three days.”

Kali spent a week in the hospital being being released on Sunday.

“I stayed in the hospital for seven days, today is my second day out. This is serious business. Just think, I got six-year-old twins, they would have been fatherless. My wife would have been a widow. It’s just all because of my past mistakes.”

Kali was a great athlete at a young age and burst onto the scene in bodybuilding in 2009. He showed off an insane physique with great size and conditioning. In 2010, Kali had a goal of turning pro and added even more size once he got the right coaching. This is when he began using more and more steroids to fine tune his physique. Following his first heart attack, Kali cut out steroids completely and began focusing on his own health. He has become an advocate for different diet plans, including fruit only to water fasting.

Kali Muscle has spoken out against the use of steroids and bodybuilding as a whole. This experience only enhances his views about it all.

“I’m telling you right now, if you think more drugs, more steroids, more intensity mean a better quality of life, than you are mistaken because I thought the same thing. Muscles don’t mean immortality. A strong body that doesn’t cancel bad choices and your hear keeps scores quietly.”
