Lee Priest loses control when confronted with Bob Cicherillo’s statements.
Lee Priest has always been a pretty enigmatic figure in bodybuilding. During his competitive days Lee Priest has always spoke his mind in what many would coincide uncalled for bullying. His outspoken statements never worked out for him in pro bodybuilding – as he was eventually banned from the IFBB for life. It appears he’s keeping up the trend.
While responding to a recent interview Generation Iron conducted with Bob Cicherillo, Lee Priest flew off the handle. The Australian bodybuilder spouted his usual string of vitriol during the interview, trying his best to bash Cicherillo and Generation Iron.
It’s truly something to see a man completely devoid of a filter. Lee Priest has the uncanny ability to say any and everything that’s on his mind with no fear of consequences.
It’s exactly the reason why he ruined his IFBB career in the first place.
While speaking your mind can be a commendable thing, Lee Priest always seems to take things a bit too far. Rather than extending olive branches, Priest is far more obsessed with burning bridges all in the name of speaking “his truth.”
This is a man who completely alienated so many of his contemporaries and fellow competitors with his attitude and bullish nature. A man who ended up completely derailing his career because of his “integrity.” That integrity has amounted to him bashing any and everyone he disagrees with. There’s a fine line between critique and slander after all.
So why all the conflict? It appears that Priest took offense to Cicherillo’s claims that the Australian bodybuilder wanted nothing to do with a proposed bodybuilders union. In his response it appears the the real reason behind Priest’s lack of interest was because of his dispute with Cicherillo himself. Lee Priest himself has claimed that he tried to start a bodybuilding union in the film Lee Priest VS Bodybuilding, but Cicherillo disputes that to be true.
So who are we to believe? The man who was suspended multiple times and banned from the IFBB? Or Bob Cicherillo? A man who has dedicated himself faithfully to pro bodybuilding and the IFBB for decades. It might be entertaining to see a person rail against the system – but for Lee it often comes in the form of racist comments, homophobic jokes, and bullying. This is all in the name of some sort of truth – but at the end of the day there have been many respectable bodybuilders in the industry who know Lee Priest is more bark than bite.
Always looking to make things personal, Lee Priest once again is proving exactly why he has alienated so many people in the past.
