Mariana Guayara has gained attention in the bodybuilding world due to a beard and mustache in Women’s Physique.

A Women’s Physique bodybuilding competitor has sparked plenty of conversation recently.

Mariana Guayara has been competing in the division for years now. Since 2022, she has impressed with her physique and overall look on stage. This includes a fifth-place finish during the Romania Muscle Fest Pro. This year, some changes include facial hair while competing in the division.

Guayara, who is a biological female, made her return with a mustache and beard. This brought on plenty of opinions within the bodybuilding world, including Lee Priest.

“I think I read she is a woman who wants to live as a man. Well, men don’t compete with women and wear bikinis. Pick a side nut job.”

Lee Priest Shares Thoughts on Mariana Guayara Competing in Women’s Physique

Lee Priest joined RXMuscle for an interview where he got the chance to share his opinion on Guayara’s new look.

“If you’re a woman, who are you trying to do the beard and stuff? It’s just for attention. I never understood why women who really don’t like men in a lesbian relationship, one always tries to look like a man.”

Many professionals in bodybuilding have shared their thoughts on this story recently as well — and many agree with Priest.

During his career, Priest had the chance to compete against legendary bodybuilders like Flex Wheeler, Shawn Ray, and Chris Cormier. Before calling it a career in 2013, Priest won the NABBA Mr. Universe competition. Priest quickly became known for his incredible conditioning and massive biceps.

In retirement, he has become known for his strong opinions while keeping up with the current events in bodybuilding.

“Okay, you’re a woman competing in the women’s, then why do you got the beard and mustache for? I don’t understand. I don’t know what the goal is, probably just to get attention.”

In December, NPC/IFBB Pro League Vice President Tyler Manion shared that the NPC and NPC Worldwide will introduce the Fit Model division in bodybuilding beginning in 2025. The new Fit Model division will be implemented in the NPC and NPC Worldwide beginning in 2025. The IFBB Pro League will start in 2026. Competitors will get the chance to step on stage in this division around the world, not just in the U.S.

The sport of bodybuilding continues to evolve in many different ways that no one thought possible. It has sparked different conversations where many can share opinions.
