Rapper Lil Jon made his bodybuilding debut during Labor Day weekend.
The Muscle Beach Championships has become an annual tradition where many fitness enthusiasts from many divisions can compete in one of the best outdoor shows on the calendar. On Monday, not only did Lil Jon perform at the show, but he took the stage as a competitor, where he placed third in physique.
Lil Jon credits the work he has done to change his life and prepare for the event.
“It’s been a lot of physically, just in the gym, dedication, eating, focus. I’m winning just by being here and changing my lifestyle, mentally and physically.”
The bodybuilding competition features Bikini, Figure, and Wellness, as well as Bodybuilding and Physique. Spectators got the chance to see Lil Jon perform his music while also compete in his first-ever show at no charge.
Lil Jon Focuses on Health & Fitness
Lil Jon has been open about his fitness journey for over a year now. During an appearance on the “Tamron Hall Show,” he shared how he began focusing more on his health after his driver went through a triple bypass, who was 10 years younger.
From there, the Grammy-award winner made significant changes to his lifestyle.
“That kind of shocked me and made me say ‘you know what, I need to get healthy because the older I get, the harder it’s going to be to reverse those affects.'”
In August, Lil Jon posted multiple updates in the gym, showing off his fit physique and workout routines.
Lil Jon is not the only former Grammy-award winner who has taken his fitness journey to the next level. Wu-Tang Clan’s Method Man continues to train at a high level at 54 years old and has been for years now. His journey began around 2019. Two years later, he spoke about it when he was interested in landing a Marvel role. It has since continued as Method Man has shown off his strength many times on social media.
Many hip-hop stars have turned into fitness enthusiasts and it has led to incredible results. Lil Jon has become the latest to take his goals and turn them into a reality on the bodybuilding stage. It will be interesting to see what the next step is following his third-place finish.
