“HOW MANY DAYS IN A WEEK?” ARGUMENT FUELS BODYBUILDING STEREOTYPE

Generation Iron Days in a Week bodybuilding stereotype

Not all bodybuilders are mindless meatheads… just this guy.

Anyone paying attention this week, with their antennas tuned into the internet stratosphere, may have come across some articles relating to an interesting argument on the bodybuilding.com forums. To sum things up, a bunch of bodybuilders try and ultimately fail to figure out how many days there are in a week.

We’ll let that one sink in…

Generation Iron Roelly Dissapointed

The answer is seven. There are seven days in a week. This, in fact, is an easy question. Yet somehow this was the point of debate way back in 2008 – and not surprisingly has been found and unearthed by internet blogs and pop culture news outlets a few days ago.
.

It starts out innocently, if not ignorantly, enough:

m1ndless: If I go every other day I will be at the gym 4-5 times a week, is that over training?
I typically work out for 60-90 minutes, I push my self and raise the weight each week.

This is an incorrect statement. Luckily a man of intelligence (or even common sense) stepped in to fix the problem.

steviekm3: That makes no sense. There are only 7 days in a week. If you go every other day that is 3.5 times a week.

Problem solved right? Case closed. Whoa, whoa.. not so fast guys – this being the internet, an entire different duo of users kick in to debate what the real right answer is.

TheJosh: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. That is 4 days.

How do you go 3.5 times? Do a half workout or something? lol

Justin-27: 7x in 2 weeks = 3.5 times a week, genius.

And yeah, 3x a week, full body workouts are good.

TheJosh: I never said anything about going exactly 7 times, like I said, if I go every other day, that is 4 DAYS A WEEK. How hard is that to comprehend?

Week 1 – Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Week 2 – Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.

8 DAYS IN 2 WEEKS

In your terms,

8x in 2 weeks = 4 times a week, genius.

All Muscle and No Brains? lol

Ah yes, it all makes perfect sense now…

steviekm3: You double counted Sunday – that is 2 weeks plus 1 day.

Did you fail grade 2 math ?

PLUS your old post said 4 or 5 times a week. Now you just neglect to mention the 5.

Grow up and admit when you are wrong. Believe me you will get a a lot further in life this way.

TheJosh: Are you retarded?

Maybe you should look at a calander, I didn’t double count sunday, my two weeks started and ended on sunday, exactly 14 days.

What don’t you understand?

EDIT – Here is a Calender, I made little dots for each day so you could comprehend.

[the calendar is no longer up]

Justin-27: Dude THAT IS 15 DAYS!!!!!! Are you that effing mental? You can’t have a week go Sun-Sat, then Sun-Sun. Look at the damn pic you posted, count the days what do they equal?!?!?! FIFTEEN!

Kids these days.

I was right, 3.5 x a week, and so was the first guy to post it, and you my bright friend are el wrongo.

Wow, this started escalating quickly. El wrongo indeed.
.

We can keep going on and on because, as you can tell, this forum thread is 100% hilarious. There’s no denying that. But what’s more than annoying is the spin that the rest of the internet decided to put on it: “bodybuilders are stupid so of course they wouldn’t know how many days are in a week.” No matter how much exposure it gets, there’s still this underlying stigma that all bodybuilders are meatheads, morons who have no comprehension of basic human knowledge.

By our count, there only actually seems to be one moron in this long winded forum. Sure, it’s all unneccessary and goes on way longer than it should – but that’s how the internet is everywhere.

.

The forum topic doesn’t necessarily help in our defense. The people covering this story should take it for what it really is; a stupid argument on an open forum. The internet is chock full of idiocy, so what exactly make this situation so unique? It’s clearly a jab at the bodybuilding community, and to tell the truth its a pretty hilarious situation, but we’re tired of everyone taking one rotten apple (in this case painfully dumb one) and siting them as the sole representative for the bodybuilding community at large.

Now before you go and say that we’re being too sensitive about the situation, we’ve got to admit that this is the reason why visiting forums can offer some enjoyable laughs. So just consider this a public service announcement to the internet: We are all not this stupid.

Still pretty damn funny though. So let’s roll out with a few more highlights of the idiocy that is “TheJosh.”

TheJosh: It’s 14 days, try again.

Maybe you should try counting on your fingers?

If you workout on the 8th, you wouldnt start counting the days til the 9th, because that is one day, then the 10th would be two days, and so on until you get to the 22nd, which is 14 days.

Justin-27: COUNT THE FUKING DAYS! How many days are in 2 weeks moron? 14

I am saying you train 7x in 2 weeks, which in other terms is 3.5x a week. I cannot believe I have to type THREE replies for you to get this.

^You tell me how that works out? I see 3x one week, then 4x the next, which???? EQUALS SEVEN IN 2 WEEKS!

In case you forgot, ONE WEEK is Sunday-Sat, NOT Sun-sun, that’s 8 days moron.

TheJosh: For me to get this? You are the one who is not getting it, it’s simple, just look at the calender and COUNT THE DAYS.

There is 7 days in a week, if you workout every other day, you work out 4 days a week, how hard is that to ****ing comprehend?!

Ill do it out in 4 weeks for you, maybe it will make more sense?

Week 1 – Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
Week 2 – Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday
Week 3 – Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday
Week 4 – Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, Tuesday
Week 5 – Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday
Week 6 – Friday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday

No matter how you look at it, if you workout every other day, you work out 4 times a week.

A week is sunday-sunday.

I think you just don’t know how to count, it’s alright, I won’t tell anyone. lol

Sunday-Saturday is only 6 days, do you have 6 days weeks where you live?

Justin-27: I’m right, you’re a effing moron. A WEEK IS NOOOOTTTTT SUN-SUN!!!! IT’S SUN-SAT, S-E-V-E-N- DAYS!!!!

Sun-Sat is only 6 days?!

Sunday ONE
Monday TWO
Tuesday THREE
Wednesday FOUR
Thursday FIVE
Friday SIX
Saturday SEVEN
