Sommerfeld’s coach, Neil Hill, was unhappy with this new check but the 2024 runner-up complied. During the Olympia press conference on Thursday afternoon, Sommerfeld confirmed that he has cleared hurdles after being required to lose 14 pounds in two days. He officially weighed in at 204 pounds.

Mike Sommerfeld Prepared to Compete at 2025 Olympia

Mike Sommerfeld finished as the runner-up to Chris Bumstead during the 2024 Olympia. With Bumstead announcing his retirement, this puts Sommerfeld in line to compete for the title right away in 2025. It has been kicked into high gear following his victory in Columbus. Sommerfeld was victorious during the Arnold Classic in March and this set the tone for the remainder of his prep. Now, he officially has his sights set on the Olympia title.
Sommerfeld denied in a comment on social media that he needed new measurements after failing. He claims he needed just one opportunity to achieve the necessary height and weight.
“We measured ONCE and I came back for the interview after I had some water.”
With Bumstead announcing his retirement, Sommerfeld has emerged as a leading contender for the coveted 2025 title. His journey began in 2014 at the amateur level, but he made his presence known in 2019 with a standout debut at the Romania Pro. Since then, Sommerfeld has won events like the Xtreme Bodybuilding & Fitness Pro and the Poland Pro Supershow.
