Mike Tyson Sued For $1.6 Million For Allegedly Breaking Promo Contract Following Jake Paul Fight

Mike Tyson is being sued by the gambling company Medier for $1.6 million.

Mike Tyson is weeks removed from a big payday following his fight with Jake Paul in Dallas. The former heavyweight champion is not out of hot water just yet as he is being sued for a chunk made for his fight on Netflix.

The gambling promotion company. Medier is suing Tyson for $1.6 million after accusing the boxer and his company Tyrannic of ending his contract early to promote the online casino Rabona ahead of his fight with Paul. The lawsuit, which was filed in London back in October, claims that Tyson broke the January contract and cost Medier approximately $1.59 million.

The company shared a statement on Friday:

“The true reason for Mr. Tyson and Tyrannic’s hasty and unlawful termination was because Mr. Tyson had agreed [to] a deal, sponsored by Netflix, to fight the influencer Jake Paul.”

Tyson’s team released a statement to the New York Post in response:

“It is the company’s position that Medier, Ltd. materially breached the terms of its license agreement on multiple occasions and in various ways. As such, Tyrannic, LLC was well within its legal and contractual rights to terminate the license agreement for material breach in an effort to mitigate additional Reputational harm to the Tyson brand.”

The fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul brought 108 million viewers. Tyson got a major payday for the event with $20 million and Paul doubled it by bringing in $40 million. This did not stop the controversy surrounding the fight in the boxing world.

Fans were not happy with the outcome as Tyson landed just 18 punches across eight rounds. The event was enough to draw plenty of eyeballs but did not put on the show that was expected.
