Mitchell Hooper admits that he is eyeing the deadlift world record.
Strongman champion Mitchell Hooper is one of the strongest men in the world and has proven it on many occasions. Recently, he shared that he has his sights set on a new venture and that includes setting one of the most insane world records there is.
During a sit down with Muscle Insider, Hooper shared that he plans to go after the deadlift world record and set his own mark of 505kg.

Hafthor Bjornsson currently holds the world record deadlift using a standard bar at 501kg. He broke Eddie Hall’s record of 500kg, becoming the second man ever to reach this mark. Bjornsson has held this record for years now and it has been something that he has gone back and forth with Hall about. Hooper wants to put all talking to an end and set his own mark.
Mitchell Hooper Eyes Deadlift World Record
Hooper has done a lot of winning in Strongman in recent years and this has led to his goals becoming even bigger. This includes taking down a record that has stood for years and becoming just the third person all-time to deadlift 500kg.
“The deadlift world record is absolutely something I’ll be going after this year. That’ll be 505kg. Eddie and Thor have argued for too long over 500 and 501. I like them both so I’m gonn put all of that to an end for everyone’s sake and I will deadlift 505 kilos in Birmingham, England this year.”
Hooper has been busy over the last few years. After his win at the 2023 World’s Strongest Man, many believed the sky was the limit for Mitchell Hooper. With a brand of humor all his own and a marketable personality, Hooper appeared to be taking his career to the next level. And while he may not have won the 2024 WSM, his subsequent victory at the 2024 Giants Live Strongman Classic showed that his ranking hasn’t fallen off whatsoever.
Mitchell Hooper Deadlift Technique
Mitchell Hooper has shared what it takes to build a better deadlift and there were three categories specified of core strength, leg strength, and patience. He also shared three tips on how to get the best technique possible:
- If you’re weak off the floor, narrow your stance
- If your hips shoot up immediately, the bar is too far in front of you
- If you have no power off the floor, the bar is too close to you
