MOUNTAIN MOTIVATION: THOR’S EARTH SHATTERING LIFT

Generation Iron Thor's Lift

Shaking the earth with pure strength.

What does it mean to be a champion? It’s a question that perhaps not many people think about. For some it means holding a belt or trophy. For others it means being at the pinnacle of their chosen sport. Everyone is going to have an opinion on the subject, who’s right and who’s wrong. The reality is that not everyone can be considered the best at what they do. Does that mean they should give up and find another passion?

Hell no!

More than the titles, the trophies, the belts, being a champion is far more than something you can simply hold in your hands. Being a champion can just as easily mean not being the best, lacking the genetics, lacking the skill, but having the will to continue to try and improve. The will to succeed is the one element that can make even an average Joe into a champ. Sure, they may not receive the same accolades, but they’re willing to make sacrificing to ensure that they can one day make the impossible possible.

No doubt it’s a notion that Hafthor Bjornsson believes to be true. The man who many call “The Mountain” isn’t considered the World’s Strongest Man, that title has been reserved for Brian Shaw. Nevertheless, Hafthor is looking to make a change in 2016 and hopefully make his star shine even brighter starting at next week’s Arnold Classic event in Ohio. The Icelandic strong man has his eyes set on the number one spot and with a big win at the Arnold’s he’ll be well on his way to making that dream a reality.

Check out Hafthor Bjornsson’s hard at work in the gym as he hefts a tremendous amount of weight over his head.
